Brunei Darussalam - An Introduction

On the island of Borneo, in southeast of Asia, lies Abode Of Pace, the State of Brunei Darussalam. Apart from its coastline with South China Sea it is surrounded by the state of Sarawak, and East Malaysia. Brunei has gained freedom from British on January 1, 1984.

The Sultanate of Brunei was a powerful nation between the fourteenth to sixteenth century CE. The entire island of Borneo and Philippines were its part. Later, British suppressed the regional power of Brunei and ruled here since 1888 to 1984.

Brunei is one of the most politically stable nations in Asia. The Sultan of Brunei is the supreme authority in the power. Brunei has two unconnected parts, western and eastern. Approximately, 97% of population lives in western part.

The climate in Brunei is equatorial tropical, with high temperatures, high humidity, and sunshine and heavy rainfall throughout the year. The two reefs Louisa reef and Rifleman bank are located 230 km and 460 km northwest of Brunei’s Capital Bandar Sri Begawan, respectively.

The Brunei’s economy is a mix of domestic and foreign entrepreneurship. Half of the GDP comes from production of natural gas and crude oil.
